I like you, but I think it’s time for both of us to try something new.
Listen. It’s not you, really, it’s me. I just don’t see how you can satisfy all my desires anymore. After all, I have needs. I have goals, aspirations, dreams! Things that I can’t afford to be tied down to one person with. Asking me to choose is like asking a bird to choose the ground or the sky: I’ll die if I have to decide.
I set off on my adventure. The world is filled with shining minerals waiting to be refined by my hand. With beautiful people who need me to love them. Everyone deserves a chance to find love, no matter how many test drives are made before the final product is found.
Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months, months to years. My nature longs for intense passion. I won’t be denied a chance to discover this feeling deep inside.
The search will continue, but as exhaustion creeps upon me, familiarity becomes few and far between. I come home for a quick view of a different life. Everything looks the same; not a thing out of place. But I’ve changed. I’ve seen the wonders of the world and even managed to pick up a few souvenirs along the way. Sweet memories of the good days with him will always be cherished, but a new day means new memories with something new. I can’t give him my full heart, but a large portion is definitely set aside!
So I’ve missed a few dates, what’s the big deal? If I need him, he’s a call away. Life isn’t always what you want it to be. It’s rough, unpredictable, and unforgiving. Relationships are meant to be an explored escape. Fulfilled desire is the focus. There’s no such thing as the perfect match. To believe that is folly.
I look up and see Him. There, waiting by the door, watching as I inch closer to His proximity.
He holds me close and whispers in my ear familiar promises. “Just as I am, the love I have for you is everlasting. I will always wait for you and I’ll never stop trying, never stop asking you to come home. Let’s pick up where we left off. I don’t care how long it’s been! Come back to Me. Be forever Mine.”
I think of the world, filled with dull minerals that wasted away at my touch. How our nature longs for intense passion. I’m surrounded by beautiful people who need an agape love. Everyone has a chance, but many get caught up in the glamour of the test drive. I can’t afford to be with anyone but You.
When I need Him, He answers. Life isn’t what I thought it would be. With Him, it’s beautiful, vibrant, and special. He cares; accepts me for me regardless of the new baggage I’ve managed to carry in tow.
Sweet memories of Your goodness remind me that I am cherished. A new day means new mercies. Your love bursts an indescribable passion I yearn to understand. My heart longs to please You.
I would die without You. I live to serve You. I’m lost without You. O God, you are my God.
